The Immunology group at the Children´s Hospital of the Medical Faculty of the Otto-von-Guericke University is looking for a highly motivated PhD student interested in studying fundamental principles of immune regulation, and in incorporating this basic knowledge into new therapeutic strategies.
PhD position in Oncoimmunology
in Magdeburg
The student will be part of SFB 854/MGK community. We are an international team working in the fields of oncoimmunology and anti-microbial immunity. The project will be to test novel target molecules for
immune-checkpoint therapies based on modified CD8 T-cell responses to treat cancer (Lingel et al., 2017;
Arra et al., 2017). You will analyse function and signaling of known and novel costimulatory molecules on T-cells such as CD28, as well as their regulation by CTLA-4. CTLA-4 is a well-known inhibitory molecule of T-cell responses and currently one of the targets of immune-checkpoint therapies.
Methods
Cell culture, purification of cell populations and functional assays (i.e. cytotoxicity assay), cell processing and stimulation, transfection, isolation of cell populations, FACS analysis, radioactive cell labeling, ELISA, ELISPOT, mouse tumor models, adoptive cell transfer, Real-time-PCR, CHIP assays etc.
