Part-time Visiting Lecturer 18th-century British Art

Department of Education and Lifelong Learning

The Department of Education and Lifelong Learning is urgently looking to fill a vacancy for a part-time lecturer to teach the short evening course Arts of Georgian Britain, which is due to start this Summer term on

Thursday 28 April 2005. The course consists of 10 x 2 hours sessions once a week, plus 2 x 2 hour gallery visits. This is an introductory course

that discusses the fine and decorative arts and architecture of the period. For a description of the course, see the Courses for Adults website at www.city.ac.uk/conted/cfa/arts (Click on ‘Art and Design’ and on the course title).

New Teaching Faculty position in Art Business and Contemporary Art For thirty six years Sotheby's Institute of Art – London has been preparing students for careers in the art world. As the Institute

continues to expand we are seeking to recruit additional teaching faculty in the areas of Art Business and Contemporary Art.

Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Art

The successful candidate will have a commitment to contemporary art and will have a publishing and/or curating profile. They would manage and teach primarily on the MA in Contemporary Art.

You should have a good first degree, a completed PhD, and/or evidence of published research. Teaching experience at degree level is desirable; IT skills relevant to the history of art and visual culture are highly

desirable. Salary range: Senior Lecturer £35,000-40,000 p.a.; Lecturer:

£25,000 to £30,000 p.a., dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will have expertise in a specialist field related to our current curriculum. Specialists in Marketing and Communications

would be preferred. They would teach both on the MA in Art Business and BA level courses.

All Faculty will be responsible for teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as public programmes. They will undertake supervision of research students if appropriate and be active in research and publication. They will also be required to undertake management and administrative responsibilities within the School.
