Postdoctoral position in economic geography at the Department of Human Geography, Stockholm University
With over 60,000 undergraduate and master's students, 1,900 doctoral students and 5,000 employees, Stockholm University is one of the largest universities in Sweden. The University is situated approximately 10 minutes from the city centre of Stockholm.
The Department of Human Geography at Stockholm University belongs to the Faculty of Social Sciences and has approximately 45 members of staff. The Department has six Professors and Associate Professors and 15 senior lecturers and researchers. There are approximately 15 doctoral students. Research work at the department covers a wide array of areas of human geography. This research environment provides a dynamic milieu for specialized as well as cross-thematic and cross-theoretical research work. Globalization, network spaces, knowledge dynamics and service production are important issues for research projects in economic geography. These issues are also key themes for the postdoctoral
position we announce.
Postdoctoral position
The postdoctoral position is based on a scholarship financed by Browaldh-Handelsbanken.
The position is full time and is limited to three years. The scholarship covers salary, social security, office space, computer and IT support, and includes a budget for expenses.
This position is foremost for research work, and the candidate will contribute to teaching and supervision of students in social and economic geography, primarily at the MA level. The successful candidate is expected to conduct and publish research in economic geography and will occupy an important role in the Department’s research initiatives within the thematic framework of this postdoctoral position. We are seeking candidates with an interest in developing research through interactions with researchers in economic geography and its subfields and/or other disciplines.
The position requires that the candidate should be present at the Department of Human Geography for most of the scholarship period. Some time may be spent as guest researcher at other universities in Sweden or outside Sweden.
Starting date
June 1st 2012, or by agreement.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants should have obtained their PhD degree within five years of the application date, in economic geography, human geography, geography or related areas. The position is for an international researcher.

* Demonstrated ability to collaborate in projects and networks and attract external research funding

* selected publications (maximum of five).
