Soul and Psyche:
Mind, Body, and Spirit in the Medieval and Early Modern Eras
Convivium: the Siena Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies invites session and paper proposals for its annual Interdisciplinary Conference, October 11-12, 2002. The Center welcomes papers that explore any topic related to the study and teaching of the Middle Ages and Early Modern, and especially those that focus on this year's theme of Mind, Body, and Spirit in the Medieval and Early Modern Eras. Papers may address, for example, representations of the body, spiritual quests and journeys, devotion and devotions, the passions and the virtues in art or literature, social and political attitudes towards these ideas, sermon literature, philosophical discussions, politics, social order, gender roles, or other relevant topics. Special sessions will deal with the Franciscan influence on the development of the arts in the Renaissance (art, music, theatre, and liturgy).
Publication Opportunities:
Selected papers related to the conference theme will be published.
Deadline June 1 2002
Please send two copies of session proposals or one-page abstracts, along with a copy of your current c.v. including email address and phone number, and the audio-visual request form (available at our website).
Email submissions are welcome.
