Information about the program
The postgraduate master program Paediatric Dentistry (M.Sc.) is a new extra occupational three-year program. The program is exceptional because it is offered by two universi- ties (Justus-Liebig-University Gießen and Philipps-University Marburg). The cooperation of the two universities makes it possible to pass on to students an extraordinarily wide range of specialist knowledge.
Both universities are known to have a long tradition and the study conditions belong to the best of all dentistry faculties in Germany.
The degree Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Paediatric Dentistry will be acquired after the successful completion of all mod- ules by writing a master’s thesis. The degree qualifies dentists for evidence based and practice oriented specialization in the field of paediatric dentistry.
After successfully completing the first resp. second year of studies, participants will receive a basic resp. supplemental certificate.

The extra occupational postgraduate program comprises 11 modules including the master’s thesis. The moduls are distrib- uted over a period of three years or six semesters. The reference time for modules 1-10 amounts to a total of 330 hours in 5 se- mesters. Reference time will be offered primarily as weekend courses in Gießen and Marburg. Topics are listed in the diagram below.
The master program Paediatric Dentistry Gießen - Marburg will start inOctober 2014 for the first time.
All information about the terms of application, the current amount of fees, and the requirements for ac- cess are available at:
www.wmhoch3.de/kinderzahnheilkunde If you are interested in qualification without receiving a university de- gree, you are able to receive a „basic
certificate“ after the first year of studies and a „supplemental certificate“ after the second year.
The concept of the first year is to qualify participants—after successful completion of the basic certificate—to work with healthy children and adoles- cents. You will also be able to attend to children who are well compliant or almost compliant.
The successful completion of the sup- plemental certificate will certify that you are competent to plan and per- form more extensive and long-term dental treatment with children and adolescents with special needs. This includes an interdisciplinary point of view and the current guidelines in science.
