German as a Foreign Language (B2): Strategies for Job and Internship Applications

Goals: Building up on a sound command of the German language, this course aims to provide students with an in-depth introduction to the key vocabulary of their respective degree courses in order to enable them to successfully deal with complex and challenging professional conversations.

In addition, students will have the opportunity to acquire the language skills and the confidence required for successful job and internship search in Ger- man covers both the preparation of German application documents and the linguistic preparation for job interviews.

Content:  acquiring useful words and phrases for professional purposes

 analysing situations and documents from typical academic situations (presentations, academic papers, …)

 acquiring vocabulary and useful phrases for job search purposes

 preparing application documents and simulating job interviews

 exercises and role plays

Prerequisites:

This course is open to students of all degree courses at RheinAhrCampus Remagen with a good command of the German language.

Methods: Communicative and interactive language teaching.

Assessment: Active and regular participation are compulsory. There will be a written and an oral examination at the end of the semester. Assignments set during the se- mester may also contribute to the overall grade awarded for this course. As this course is part of the interdisciplinary academic skills training semes- ter*FIT, the credits cannot be used to fulfill the graduation requirements of the full-time degree courses offered at RheinAhrCampus Remagen.
