Outer space for right-angled Artin groups Ruth Charney

Abstract: Right-angled Artin groups are a class of groups that range from free groups to free abelian groups and their automorphism groups interpolate between Aut(Fn) and GL(n,Z). In the 1980’s, Culler and Vogtmann introduced a space, known as “outer space”, that has been central to the study of automorphism groups of free groups. We introduce an analogue of outer space for more general right- angled Artin groups. (Joint work with K. Vogtmann and N. Stambaugh)
