Hubble’s Law
Hubble’s Law gives you the relationship between the recession velocity, v, and distance, d, of galaxies:
v =H0·d. (1)
Here H0 is the current value of Hubble’s constant. Estimate H0 from the graph below:
Based on your estimate of H0, you can find an estimate of the age of the Universe, assuming that the expansion rate of the Universe is constant in time, i.e. assuming that equation (1) has hold true throughout the history of the Universe (why?). This estimate is called the Hubble time, tH:
