The formal standard redox potentials of samarium (III)/(II) (ESm3+

=Sm2+) and europium (III)/(II) (EEu3+

=Eu2+) in molten alkali metal chlorides were measured potentiometrically against a reference chlorine electrode. The Gibbs energy changes and equilibrium constants for the reaction LnCl2(l)

+1/2 Cl2(g) ,LnCl3(l) were calculated for the salt systems studied. The effect of the cationic composition of the melt-solvent on the above thermodynamic characteristics is also reported.

Electronic absorption spectra of gaseous chlorine and their saturated solutions in molten alkali chlorides were studied in wide ranges of temperature and wavelength. There is a

The observed changes in the position of absorption band maxima and optical density with changing tem- perature and cationic composition of salt solvent al- lows us to coordinate

Dur- ing the work-up procedure, minor amounts of hydrogen halide adducts of compounds 2 and 3 were isolated as single crystals, which contain a further equivalent

On the other hand it is also worth noting that in contrast to the iminium chloride [Me 2 N=CH 2 ]Cl, formamidinium chloride [(Me 2 N) 2 CH]Cl does not form metal carbon bonds

Of three solvent-free structures, 2,4- and 3,5-di- chloroanilinium chlorides both form ribbon structures involving annelated R 2 4 (8) rings with NH 2 donors (two hydrogen atoms

The main predictions that emerge from our calculations are as follows: (i) in MRX 4 a fourfold coordination of the rare-earth atom is accompanied by twofold or threefold coordination
