Der internationale Flugverkehr ist bis heute klimapolitisch nicht reguliert und wird zudem stark subventioniert. Daher sind z.B.
■ Einführung einer Steuer auf Flugbenzin,
■ Einführung einer Emissionsabgabe,
■ Integration des Flugverkehrs in den europäischen Emissionshandel politische Handlungsmöglichkeiten.

Selection of climate projects certified by the UN
The climate impact of flights can be calculated with certain calculators in the world wide web. A flight from Germany to the Caribbean produces the impact of 2 tonnes CO2, for example.
1. You pay a certain amount of money that allows to save emissions of com- parable climate impact as produced by your flight.
2. The money supports an emissions reduction project (e.g. energy efficiency or renewable energy).
And a very important criterium for SERIOUS compensation projects:
3. The projects should benefit the local population. International credible con- trol systems should guarantee that high project standards are kept and that the money invested meets its objectives.
Die Klimawirkung von Flugreisen kann jeder mit Emissionsrechnern im Internet berechnen. Ihr Beispielflug produziert eine Klimawirkung von 2 Tonnen CO2(z.B. von Deutschland in die Karibik).
1. Sie zahlen als Klimaausgleich dann so viel, dass Emissionen mit vergleich- barer Klimawirkung in Klimaschutz- projekten vermieden werden können.
2. Ihr Geld wird z.B. in Solar-, Wasser- kraft-, Biomasse- oder Energiesparpro- jekte in Entwicklungsländern inves- tiert. Wichtig sind glaubwürdige Kriterien für die Projekte.
3. Die Projekte sollten der lokalen Bevölkerung nutzen. Damit Ihr Geld auch in den Projekten ankommt und die Standards eingehalten werden, sollten sie durch international aner- kannte Kontrollmechanismen und - organisationen überwacht werden.
