Milka Bliznakov Prize - Women in Architecture

Despina Stratigakos 5th Annual Milka Bliznakov Prize Deadline: September 1, 2004

The International Archive of Women in Architecture seeks proposals for the fifth annual Milka Bliznakov Prize. The prize of $1,000 is conferred in recognition of work that advances knowledge of women's contributions to architecture and related design fields.

The competition takes part in two stages. The first requires the

submission of a short proposal by 1 September 2004 (see below). Up to six candidates will be invited to advance to the next stage of the

competition, which requires completion of the project outlined in the proposal. Based on the completed projects, the prize will be awarded in the fall of 2005.

A 500 word proposal with curriculum vitae must be received or postmarked by 1 September 2004. Proposals should be for projects that advance the recognition of women's contributions to architecture and related design fields. Such projects are broadly defined: They may include architectural work, scholarly publications, exhibitions, syllabi, performance pieces, and so forth. The board encourages proposals that reflect upon the broader context of women's contributions to the fields of design. The product of the work should be clearly specified in the initial proposal.

Electronic submissions are encouraged. Send proposals to:
