Rosie says: “I work as the marketing coordinator.” Rosie therefore works for the charity Oxfam as the marketing coordinator.
1
Rosie says: “Well, the Oxfam Walk actually started 43 years ago. It started in the late 60s.” The first Oxfam Walk therefore took place 43 years ago, in the late 60s.
2
Rosie says: “And since then it’s expanded. We now get about over 1,000 walkers every year and to date we’ve raised about £1 million.” So far the charity event has therefore brought in about £1 million.
3
Rosie says: “Each year we have around 1,000 walkers.” The annual event therefore attracts 1,000 walkers.
4
Rosie says: “Well, there is a variety of routes and you can do 3 miles and, and that’s within the park and this year it’s a bit special because we’re gonna have some nature walks. If you are a bit more fit and healthy you can do 26 miles, […].”
The radio presenter (Amy) says: “That’s a bit of a jump from 3 to 26, isn’t it?”
Rosie says: “You can choose in between. There is an 8-mile and a 12-mile and of course if you get tired there’s always shortcuts on the way home.” Walkers therefore have a choice of routes.
5
Rosie says: “We’re hoping to make even more money this year than we did last year. […] Last year, we made just over £30,000. This year we are aiming for £50,000.” In this year’s walk Oxfam is hoping to raise £50,000.
6
Rosie says: “The Oxfam Walk is entirely run by volunteers. We do have help from Oxfam headquarters, but the planning, the marketing and all the people that help on the day all are unpaid volunteers.” The event is therefore largely organised by volunteers.
7
Rosie says: “If you do want more information, you can contact our current chairman. His name is Simon Watkins and his phone number is 01223 526157.” To find out about the job offer you therefore need to get in touch with the current chairman, Simon Watkins.
8
Rosie says: “If I can find the time, I’d like to do the 15 mile, ‘cause I don’t think I could do the 26.” Rosie therefore does not think she is fit enough to do the 26-mile run.
