CANCELLED: Symposium in 19th Century Art History (New York, 22 Mar 20)

Dahesh Museum, New York City, Mar 22, 2020 Deadline: Jan 5, 2020

Patricia Mainardi, City University of New York CANCELLATION:

In view of the increasing spread of the COVID-19 virus, the Association of Historians of Nineteen- th-Century Art (AHNCA) and the Dahesh Museum of Art have cancelled the AHNCA/Dahesh Gradu- ate Student Symposium in Nineteenth-Century Art History that was originally scheduled for March 22, 2020. It will be rescheduled to take place after the summer.

The Seventeenth Annual Graduate Student Symposium in the History of Nineteenth-Century Art, co-sponsored by the Association of Historians of Nineteenth-Century Art (AHNCA) and the Dahesh Museum of Art, will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at the Dahesh in New York City.

The Mervat Zahid Cultural Foundation has generously provided the Dahesh Museum of Art Prize of $1000 for the best paper, with the opportunity for publication in Nineteenth-Century Art World- wide. Some travel funding is available.

Graduate students are invited to submit proposals for 20-minute papers on topics in the history of art and visual culture of the long nineteenth century (1789–1914). Proposals that give evidence of new scholarship and originality of approach are especially encouraged. Send the following mate- rials to the selection committee as a single email attachment (not as multiple attachments) addressed to: pmainardi@gc.cuny.edu. Combine the following documents into a single file attach- ment; do not send multiple files:

• brief c.v. (2-page maximum)

• cover sheet with name, school, title of paper, and name of faculty adviser on the proposed paper, as well as its relation to the doctoral dissertation

• 2-page (500-word) abstract

To be considered, proposals must be received by Sunday, January 5, 2020. Invitations to partici- pate will be sent out by email no later than January 25, 2020.

For additional information, please e-mail Patricia Mainardi (AHNCA Programs Chair) at pmainardi@gc.cuny.edu.
