This study explores the connection of acoustic features, extracted on signal level, to high level distinctive features proposed by Chomsky and Halle. After selecting the acoustic features most closely related to a distinctive feature, the performance of an acoustic feature (sub) set is evaluated by its performance in a classification task based on C4.5 trees and support vector machines.
